Time Lapse Movies
I have been experimenting with time lapse photography.
Here's the first. It was shot in my back garden. I was taking 30 second exposures to make startrails but I preferred the video.
Here's a couple that I shot over the M4. The first is roughly 15 minutes of 1 second exposures. The seccond is a hours worth of 30 second exposures. I. still experimenting and need to get the balance right as an hour of 30 second shots lasts only 4 seconds here. I think next time I'll try 15 or 8 second exposures. I did discover that it's quite boring and cold stood on a motorway bridge for over an hour in the dark. Still I had the iPod and two left handed gloves to keep me amused.
No.1 One second exposures
No.2 Thirty second exposures
The time lapse technique in movie production can never get old. Its cinematic effects and twists on the concept of time will forever make it a valuable camera effect. Whether it's a simple time lapse shot of clouds to more detailed settings such as texas holdem casinos, city traffic, etc., the effect and symbolism is always there. On this page are a couple of time lapse movies shot by Kevin Belson.
